Jill Norman
Co-Founder and Principal Designer
Indianapolis, Indiana
Jill Norman is a native Hoosier from Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, she built a career in marketing, corporate event planning, and television commercial production before ultimately following her passion for interior design.
In 2020, Jill earned her certificate in Interior Architecture from UCLA's ArchID program and partnered with longtime friend Cameron Shepherd to establish Studio Mesa in Los Angeles. In 2026, she returned to Indianapolis, bringing the firm's California sensibility back to her Midwest roots.
Jill is especially drawn to texture, color, and natural materials, believing that the most memorable homes are shaped by the layers that tell their story. An avid estate sale enthusiast, she loves sourcing vintage pieces and incorporating them into her projects to create spaces rich with character, history, and a sense of place. Her work strikes a balance between refinement and comfort, blending old and new to create homes that feel both elevated and deeply personal.
Cameron Shepherd
Co-founder and Principal Designer
Hudson Valley, New York
Cameron Shepherd grew up in Indiana and studied music at Ball State University before setting out to explore the world. Over the years, he lived in Virginia, South Korea, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, experiences that shaped his appreciation for the ways people live and the spaces they call home. Eventually, he found his way to New York's Hudson Valley, where he now lives and works.
Captivated by the region's rich history, varied architecture, and strong connection to the landscape, Cameron believes the Hudson Valley offers a uniquely inspiring backdrop for design. The area's historic homes, creative spirit, and proximity to both nature and New York City continue to inform his perspective and approach to every project.
Before founding Studio Mesa, Cameron worked as a graphic designer, a background that sharpened his eye for composition, storytelling, and detail. Today, his favorite part of the design process is space planning, uncovering opportunities to make homes function more beautifully and intuitively for the people who live in them. He is especially interested in the intersection of form and function, creating spaces that are thoughtful, highly livable, and layered with character and human touch.
When he's not working with clients, Cameron can usually be found renovating his own home, a long-running passion that keeps him closely connected to the realities of construction, restoration, and everyday living.
